Description

American Mash & Grain was established to help expand the profile of the American Craft Whiskey Movement. Believing that whiskey is more than the overwhelming array of subjective tasting notes that the internet provides, we instead shine a light on the people, places and philosophies behind craft whiskeys from across the country.

Borrowed Page is an extension of that mission. Sourcing whiskey, blending it and bottling it under your own label is not a new concept, but so much of it is shrouded in secrecy, hidden behind non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements. That is not who we are and not what we’re here to do. We are opting for hyper-transparency. Borrowed Page is a limited release series. Each volume, a collaboration with exceptional American craft whiskeys, proudly featured on the front of the label for everyone to see. Rather than focus on bourbon, rye, or any other defined category of whiskey, Borrowed Page is an American Whiskey; a blending of styles, cultures and passion that honors its makers and endeavors to challenge the concept of what American whiskey can be.

Volume 1

Locally, we lead the industry by being the largest pot-still distillery in the state of Indiana. We create pre-prohibition style products and distill them in a method consistent with their historical counterparts. Our Distiller, Alan Bishop, has spent 19 years of his life working through the art and science of distillation, expanding his knowledge at every step. He constantly seeks out ways to continue his education through industry innovation practices, but also through discovering and preserving the rich distilling history of our state. Palate

The mouthfeel is hot but silky. There is a rich salted caramel sweetness up front that morphs into cinnamon coffee cake with mild black pepper and lingering brown sugar in the midpalate.

Finish

Dark chocolate and molasses along with orange peel persist through a long and very complex finish where the mesquite smoke creeps in slowly, changing the overall flavor as it grows
